Traits and Me

Traits are what make a person who they are. They are aspects of their personalities and ways of thinking that make each of us unique. These are a few traits that I admire.
The first one is ambition. Being surrounded by a person, or group of people with ambition- you tend to become a little more ambitious yourself. For example, in the HTM program we have big dreams. Many of us want to own our own companies, manage major hotel chains, plan and produce the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show (well maybe just me!) I feel like we have big dreams because the people around us have big dreams, so our natural competitive selves search for an even bigger dream to call our own. It’s a vicious cycle pushing us to be better versions of ourselves. Ambitious individuals seem like they never have an “end goal” because once one goal is met, they already have a new one to work towards. Ambitious people look for and seek opportunities for growth. Shoot for the moon because if you miss, you’ll land amongst the stars!
The second trait I admire is fairness. It’s sometimes a cold and cruel world out there and many of us work our butts off as we work towards our goals. The worst feeling is working so hard for something and watching the credit, the promotion, the job opening, whatever you were working for get handed over to someone who doesn’t deserve it. One example of this is at work. I work at Tower 23 hotel and there are only about 5 front desk agents. It’s easy to get time off when you need it and the schedule can be very flexible as long as we all don’t need the same day off. Our policy is whoever turned in the time request sheet first has first priority (except for major events like weddings, graduation, etc.) It makes everything easy and orderly, and most importantly avoids conflict. Like we said when we were little, “I got it fair and square.”
