What Would A Hedgehog Do

Soooooooo cute! I would have a hedgehog as a pet in a heartbeat if opportunity hit (watch out roomates!) We would be best friends and I would bring it everywhere. But who knew these little guys had so much passion? That’s right- hedgehogs are not only some of the cutest critters they are some of the most passionate.
Collins describes the Hedgehog theory as having 3 parts that work together to create…well, how do I say it, pure magic! This pure magic is a combination of what you’re passionate about, what you’re good at, and what has economic drive…BOOM the perfect job for you.
It makes sense, if you combine things you love with things you’re good at that makes work not really seem like work. And if you add in a few dashes (or a lot) of economic drive then what more could you ask for? I mean maybe to be born rich and to never have to lift a finger but let’s be realistic here. Let’s put our 4 year education to good use!
I have definitely used a similar model to pave my own path in my career. My freshman year of college I didn’t really know what I wanted to do. I wanted to help people, I wanted to make a difference, and I did not (I repeat did not) want to be stuck behind a computer screen in a cubicle doing the same thing every day. So I went for the biology route…which I quickly learned was not for me. My freshman year self had quite the meltdown because I didn’t know who I wanted to be. I took a few steps back and evaluated what I loved. I loved helping people, organizing things, making people smile, fairytales and love stories, events. Ok now what was I good at? I was good at being bossy (lol), working under-stress, time management...at the time the hospitality industry was emerging and people were getting paid real good money to help plan special events.
SO I took a leap of faith- I was going to be an aspiring wedding planner. I loved love. I loved watching people in love, hearing about how people fell in love. I love special events, planning and executing every single little detail. Why not give it a shot? Well I am VERY VERY glad I did. My dream now is to own my own boutique luxury wedding planning company called Perfect Timing Events and Design. Never would I have thought my dream would start to come true my junior year of college. I started booking my very own brides and one after the other I realized my dream was unfolding before my very eyes…thank you little hedgehog, thank you.
